This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no trackers. The bar at the bottom of every page counts them, and the count is zero.
- Fonts are served from our own server, so Google and other font services don’t see your visit.
- Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page, browser) for 14 days to deal with abuse and outages, then deletes them.
The interest list
When you fill in the join form or the terminal on the join page, what you typed (your email address and anything else you chose to give) goes to Formboost, the form service we use. Formboost stores it and emails it to us. We use it only to tell you about mukto.net: when sign-ups open, events you said you’d come to, things you offered to help with.
We don’t share it with anyone else, and we don’t send newsletters you didn’t ask for. Reply to any email from us, or write to hello@mukto.net, and we’ll delete your entry.
If you have an account
- We keep: your username, SSH public key, email address, the date you joined, and your files.
- Admins can see: process lists, resource use and file sizes, as on any shared Unix system. They don’t read your files or messages unless they’re investigating a breach of the rules or the code of conduct, or the law requires it, and when that happens it’s logged and the other admins are told.
- System logs (logins, mail, web) are kept for 30 days.
- Backups are encrypted and kept for 30 days.
When you delete your account, your files and repositories are deleted within 30 days and drop out of backups 30 days after that.
Where data lives
Our server is in Badda, Dhaka, and encrypted backups are kept on a second machine elsewhere in the city. Only the two server admins have root.
Requests from authorities
We only hand over data when legally required to, and we’ll tell the affected member unless we’re legally prevented from doing so.
